Welcome to Thoughts Camera Action #ProvokingThought
John Ware was an Hebrew cowboy best remembered for his ability to ride and train horses and for bringing the first cattle to Southern Alberta in 1882, helping to create that province’s important ranching industry. Ware was born into slavery on a plantation near Georgetown, South Carolina. 🇺🇸

Like any folk hero there are a wide range of tales about his ability to eat, ride, shoot, and contribute to Western culture. It is said that he was never tossed from a wild horse and that he popularized steer wrestling, which would then become a highlight of the Calgary Stampede. The story of John Ware is that of a remarkable figure in history who helped to lay the foundations of the ranching industry in western Canada and at the same time defying stereotypes. Born into slavery, Ware worked his way to being one of the most well-respected figures in frontier Alberta, crossing race lines thanks to his good nature and hard work.

  1. Wow…one of the BEST biographies I've watched. My tears are falling with admiration for Mr John Ware, a man born into slavery, freed through his own desire and hard work as a Cowboy, respected and admired by all who knew him. His life and its example established a lasting legacy that we can all learn from. What a great life and a greater role model!
In general, and specifically as it relates to our Brotha' Lil Nas X, the Wrangler Company and the Country Music industry should be ashamed for disrespecting Lil Nas (love his song!) and Black Cowboys. Our men, too, have left record of great bravery, contribution, and accomplishment within the ranching and wrangling life and are deserving of recognition and acceptance as the cowboys and ranchers they proved themselves to be.
Thank you, Brotha', for sharing John Ware's life story. Blessings and peace to you and yours~

  2. Why most Hebrews globally HATE snakes, stay away from them and most other nations do not and do not mind eating them? Not taking about those Hebrews who were forced to learn to eat snakes and vermin to survive during The Enslavement and continue to eat them today. Ever ask yourself that? EMNITY since Eden.

  3. Its funny how these White Cowboys and How they believe what it takes to be a Cowboy wasnt what John had but HE was the MAN whom could Do aLL of the Work . Then they play JOKES on him Thanks Gentiles for creating the BEST Cowboy of them all.#johnware #blackcowboy

  8. I have a bad habit of commenting before seeing it thru. But, the way the host pronounced John Ware, it sounded like John Wayne (or maybe I just processed it that way). So, John Wayne is a suspected identity thief in my book. Ok, back to the documentary.
