Yes this is my ocean, and I've watched the big star coral heads die over the years(and still dying), but this is a complex issue beyond "global warming". First of all they ripped out the mangroves down the coast of Florida over a hundred years ago, these were natural filters and also a habitat for small fish to grow, then they built the canals that over the years spews out pesticides and other chemicals out into the ocean, also because they ripped out the mangroves they get beach erosion and now dredge and dump sand on the beach, which just gets sucked out into the sea during the next big storm, this also chokes the reef out. Add in suntan lotion, escaped sewage, overpopulation and of course rising ocean temperatures.
