J. Edgar Hoover
Former Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation
In the 1950s and ’60s, the FBI feared a “Black Messiah,” someone capable of inspiring and leading the Black nation, might emerge to challenge the U.S. status quo. They were especially concerned about Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr., Huey Newton, and Fred Hampton. They assassinated Hampton on Dec. 4 1969.
J.Edgar Hoover, head of the FBI, said their goal was to “Prevent the rise of a ‘messiah’ who could unify and electrify the militant black nationalist movement. Malcolm X might have been such a ‘Messiah’… Martin Luther King could be a very real contender for this position should he abandon his supposed ‘obedience’ to ‘white, liberal doctrines’ (nonviolence).” – Edgar Hoover FBI
Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. Titus 2:8
Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. Col 4:6
