I think the Americans see themselves as a leader in democracy given their country is made up of all the nationalities of the world with what it sees as a strong constitutional government. So if it’s trying to lead, I think they are asking India to follow as many countries have. I think they’re asking now is because of concern for the future and in that future countries may have to front up and commit themselves behind democracy. It needs serious thought about the new future the world has to take now and for one some countries will need to put away the resentments and differences of the past to take a stand for democracy.
