Why does this announcer raise her voice when speaking – her delivery is super annoying – modern microphones will pick up all natural notes, but her shrill voice and monotone delivery is unbearable to listen to. In Hindu religion, once a woman is married off, she changes her "Gotra" to that of her husband's and that is why I think she and her children take her husband's surname. But yes, in modern times, taking up one's mother's surname, especially if she's a single parent, must be allowed legally.
My surname is neither from my parent. It feels really cool and free. It doesn't give me extra burden on my shoulder, for example, maintaining the family heritage or some traditions. Rather it allows me to create my own identity.

In Bharat, we have Gotra/Varna; no caste system[casta a spanish/potugese word, incorrectly translated for Varna]. Gotra describes lineage. Which helps marriage decision so as to avoid marriage in same Gotra, that might cause genetic defects in child.
Its better to leave that option for child itself . as he grows he can take anyone he wants
I think in India this is not applicable, you can give the surname either mothers or father.

A child should always take a father's surname. It is injustice for the father if the child get's mother's surname.
