The start of the new year based on lunar calendar is celebrated as Ugaadi (in Telugu states AP & TS, Kannada state Karnataka) and with many names such as Gudi Padwa, Chaitra Navami etc., across many parts of India (Maharashtra, Gova, …) as well as in some of the South East Asian countries.
