How did the Black Death affect Africa and Asia? (Short Animated Documentary)

The Bubonic Plague (Stage name: The Black Death) tore across Europe in the mid 14th century, depopulating parts of the continent. The focus of the epidemic is almost always on Europe but what about the rest of the world? How did the Black Death affect Africa and Asia (the Americas were fine)?

  1. Man, How come your checking for black plague evidence for the same time period in china. They had a similar disease a few centuries before which is being studied as the real percussor for black plague, via silk road.
Agora pieunsa! Vejo q ainda n tiveste oportunidade

  2. Actually… it may well be possible that India and China did go through the plague some centuries before de Europeans did, thus the low casualities among them or none at all. Thing is, it wasn't recorded. Asians were inmune to it when they brought it to the Middle East and Europe… just like the Spaniards were inmune to smallpox when they brought it to America, decimating the native population. This is due to early intense urbanization, which rises chance of infection and disease, and at the same time, chance of inmunization. Asia had large cities way before Europe did.

  3. I am 87% convinced that the reason the disease didn't spread to regions outside of Europe is because this disease was a biological 'attack' of obvious sorts. However, this cannot be mentioned, for obvious reasons.

  4. i love how the chinese emperors have the name "china" written in chinese on their cloths so everyone knows where they are.

I think every country's leader should just put their country's name on their shirts from now on. 🙂

  5. Small note but prior to Mao, China would be written with traditional rather than simplified characters, 中國 not 中国. But that's so minor compared to how great the video is.

  6. The Mamluks never quite recovered from the Black Plague, it was one of the gigantic list of reasons why they were so promptly conquered by the Ottomans
The lack (or limited) of non-western history on western countries skewers our vision of the situation a bit

  7. The Plague had a lasting effect on the descendants of those who survived. European populations have a natural higher chance of surviving HIV because of a gene that those who survived the Black Death gave to their offsprings

  8. I want to point out that the plague is basically another version of the coronavirus pandemic. The plague had roughly the same effect and ended about the same time around the world. The coronavirus pandemic also seems to have had the same effect and ended about the same time around the world. There are many places that didn't get the "effective" vaccines and don't seem to be having much of an issue with the virus.

Just an observation from someone who got the vaccine and pretends to follow the acceptable path but still thinks for himself. There have been viruses longer than there have been humans. Humans managed to survive before vaccines. World trade and therefore the trade of viruses has long existed.

The result imo….. pandemics suck, but they are what they are and they will run their course regardless of what we do. There are many viruses always moving around society. Most are not even detected. They all run their course and mutate or die off.
