  2. So when all these things where happening…….there was already a language called Deutsch, right? And who were, then the deutsch? Like who "owned" the language that was already spoken in the Austrain-Hungarian empire as well?

  3. Intriguing Video, thank you as it sheds a little dim light on a curious topic – you mentioned how Germany took the Alsace Lorraine from France thus making your audience think it should be rightfully French. It is worth mentioning that these are historically german Lands and became French initially against their will when Germany itself hadn't even been created as a single nation-state.  The then Superpower of France just took it before its people were able to join all the other Germans to be part of a united Germany
France long sought to attain and then preserve what it considered to be its "natural boundaries", which it considered the Pyrenees to the southwest, the Alps to the southeast, and the Rhine River to the northeast. These strategic claims led to the annexation of territories located west of the Rhine river in the Holy Roman Empire (a union mostly composed of independent german kingdoms or city-states). What is now known as Alsace(Elsass) was progressively conquered by France under Louis XIII and Louis XIV in the 17th century, while Lorraine(Lothringen) was incorporated from the 16th century under Henry II to the 18th century under Louis XV (in the case of the Three Bishoprics, as early as 1552). These border-changes, at the time, meant more or less that one ruler (the local princes and city-governments, with some remaining power of the Holy Roman Emperor) was exchanged for another (the King of France).German nationalism on the other hand, which in its 19th century form originated as a reaction against the French occupation of large areas of Germany under Napoleon, sought to unify all the German-speakingpopulations of the former Holy Roman Empire into a single nation-state. As various German dialects were spoken by most of the population of Alsace and Moselle (northern Lorraine), these regions were viewed by the Germans to be rightfully part of hoped-for united Germany in the future.
If the French had their way with the rest of Germany then Cologne among many other significant German Cities would be French today. Sad how modern historians are ignorant towards the locals in that region. They were made to abandon their German Dialects in favor of the French language long before Germany became the world's favorite villain. Let's face it Mr Historian, if it weren't for the demonization of Germany in the wake of the 2 World Wars there would be an uproar about the French illegitimate possession of this Region. It's time historians learn to think independently so not to function as an advocate of the prescribed doctrine. Historians like that aid in the prevention of an independent Elsass  and an independent Lothringen to ever evolve and are so participant in the suppression of an entire culture that gradually abandons its traditions and unique dialects for the so desired assimilation into the great French Nation.

  4. Fun fact: In Romania the francophile librals were so angry on the Germans at the start of the war that they tried to overthrow the country's German prince, Carol I, and establish a republic. It was quite stupid of them to say the least…and their revolt was put down.

  5. unpopular opinion: germany was better off as a monarchy german empire was germany as its peak

bring back the german empire and austria hungary kingdom of bulgaria u get those perfect europe borders

  6. 00:37 It is important to say, and this is most often not done, that although france annexed it quite a few times in history via force elsace lorraine was ALWAYS german inhabited. Even after WW2 and before WW1 the people living there regarded themselves as germans but since then they got heavily assimilated into french culture and language. Well I gues they should call themselves lucky as they didn't get mordored, rapped, and much worse when the war ended, like their fellow prussian, bohemian countrymen(and many other german peoples)

  7. Interesting. It seems medieval nation building is still ongoing. At least the thought of the same seems to survive in the old soviet block.
