How do you park a 104- gun warship like HMS Victory with no brakes?! With considerable care and attention. A short clip from our HMS Victory: Total Guide series.
I will forever be anchored as the first commenter
Its not the anchor that holds the ship in place but the chain on the ground.
I am third anchored commented. It was indeed difficult.
Picked-up an Admiralty seamanship manual a while ago ('30's) – this stuff's stupidly complicated. Buoys too.
Almost took my 104-gun sail-powered warship out for a drive when I realized I didn't yet know how to anchor it. Thanks for making this video!
Awesome vid. Was about to lay seige to the Port of Cartagena but realized I needed more rope.
Scope is all fun and games until you have to pull it all up… alone.
I think what EHTV is telling us is that it’s high time to rebuild wooden sea castles once again.
Imagine being an African tribesman living in a mudhut and seeing these strange white people rock up in these things with guns
I also use a rope to measure my depth.
Is this where the expression "unfathomable" comes from?
would you please stop spamming shorts? my subs feed is bloated af
Why did you stop the video early? SMH
Why so deep ???Is that always ?
Not alot has changed except anchor design to this day. We with larger vessels (freeboard) will set a stern anchor as well
Right, but minus the depth, this is exactly how you anchor any other boat…
Imagine, your ship is at Anchor…then all of a sudden, something tugs on the Line.
Trying to Anchor in too Deep Water is just Fishing for Cthulu.
Sooooooo…. What's so complex about it!? Don't all ships anchor that way!?
