  1. Durban, Westville resident here.
The last time I experienced this kind of damage was in 1987. But that was over 10days.
Before blaming climate change, note that we are in the path of (occasional) tropical storms

  2. Actually its 259 people that lost their lives and it's still climbing. Lots of damage.these shacks ar illegally built.with tins and cardboard.they do have lands and houses in rural areas.because of work these people build shacks near work places.its a dangerous way of living.

  3. Climate change or not, lets face the one fact we are sure of that infrastructure is not being maintained or upgraded in SA. Before we start howling to the heavens about man-made climate change lets remember that nature has an ice age due.

  4. News reporter should work on her English pronunciation. Hope and prayers for the people of KZN.

  5. Just thank WION for reporting on the disaster.Stop whining about the the reporters and jurnos. They doing their best .
The predictions, of the Vedas ,this Kali Yuga, especially Srimad Bhagavatam being realized. The wheel of Samsara, not climate change theory of globalist new world order

  6. South Africa needs to maintain drainage infrastructure and create dams to save water especially when declared a water scares County. The saddest truth is that government must create proper housing for the poorest of the poor. πŸ™ We have been subject to no water and electricity before the flooding. So face the truth and maintain, renew and just do the correct things government. πŸ™ πŸ™

    Repent. Jesus loves you.
KJV, Luke, Ch. 11, Vs. 2-4.

"Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil."

    Praise God Almighty!

”And wisdom and knowledge shall be THE STABILITY OF THY TIMES, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.”
    Isa.33:6

    Proverbs, Ch. 1, Vs. 33

But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

  8. It's a case of massive lack of maintenance by the ruling party, as well as people who erect houses without adhering to municipal laws because the laws are not enforced.

  9. Not a nature problem but a infrastructure problem and zoning problem. People build where ever they want .

  10. The main reason for such destruction is the anc has done zero maintenance on infrastructure throughout most of sa since they took power, but especially since 2009 when jz took over. Come on sa people, come on world, start calling a spade a spade for once, this is all under anc watch. Disgusting leadership and yet these masses will continue to vote them in, makes no sense. Come to CT which is not under anc rule and compare western cape to the rest of sa. Chalk and cheese. Wake up sa wake up world for once

  11. This is the result when killings of innocent Africans by south Africans for the past 2 weeks. God is no asleep

  12. "The devastating effects of climate change"
    "Highest rainfall in 60 years"
What did they blame it on 60 years ago, climate change? I don't think so… 🀣🀣🀣

  13. As far as I can see the problem has more to do with waste and waste management universally. People continue to dump their rubbish nilly willy, even sweep rubbish into the drains on roads. I've seen council workers doing it as well and I'm not just referring to towns and townships in South Africa but witnessed it in other countries. So until such time we take responsibility for our actions of living like pigs, stop blaming nature and climate change.
