Of course they hit civilians and knew it. There iis no perfect war and of course they knew civilians would die at times. I'm not defending them but that's just part of war. At times it's knowingly going to cause civilian lives, especially modern war with bombs and mass destructive weapons. This is why war needs to be avoided if possible, because killing civilians is a necessary evil.
Ok, let the terrorists and religious fanatics do what they want. If countries are going to be accused of killing people then religions should take their share of he blame too.
