In 1961 the Indian army marched into Portuguese Goa and after two days of fighting formally annexed it into the country. Given that the world largely believed that conquering foreign lands hadn’t been cool since the end of the WW2 why was it allowed to stand? Why did the world let India annex Goa? To find out why watch this short and simple animated history documentary.

Video suggestions: Could you explain us the Sudanese civil wars and how the country split in two?
Dear fellow Indians pls help me report this video so that it gets banned in India or taken down for good.
Incorrect map of India should not be allowed to stream in any video in India
Please do your duty
What a stupid post! 🙁
I’ve to correct you its not annexation but the Independence of our land
i like how he never even showed where Goa was in India.
France just didn't hand over French india, there was kinda a short guerilla war and pressure from indian army
I am watching this video 😂 after finishing a hot summer trip in GOA returning to my home state
Portugal invaded and conquered our territory in mediaval age with military might we took it back in Modern age with military might so fare and square
Might makes it right as it always have been
You didn't presented full story.. India was just doing diplomacy and requesting Portugal to leave from 20 years but Portugal killed one Indian fisherman (some say it was accident some say it was intentional) then India said police force not army but police and police captured it goa Portugal tried to send navy but Egypt blocked their navy in seuz canal (i know I've messed up the name) then Portugal realised that time of them bullying non european nations have gone now
Goa wasn't some Portugal's land
It was always Indian land
Portugal invaded it
I hope this channel speaks of the dark history of Goa, including St. Xavier, the mass murderer.
Because it belongs to us😁
Can you please make a video on Khalistan
Western cunts and their logic of annexation.
Moron admin correct the map of INDIA , till then dislike from my side
Follow up video, why did Portugal have Goa in the first place? Why didn't the British take it over?
This segment is a complete waste of everybody's time
First get the Indian map correct. Kashmir is an integral part of India.
India annexed Goa because they killed one person while he was fishing
Indian map is wrong
Use the correct map of India or we will report your video.
India to the Portuguese: Goa way
Portugal didn't get the joke
Portugal looted Goa, killed or converted local Hindu population, their torture was unfathomable. I wish the same punishment is given to the Portuguese. Stop believe in western lies, hypocritical and disgusting.
Dang, after WW2 white people just became everybody else's biotch
Portugal invaded a part of India like the British. They should have left along with the British. Instead they remained here, stick with the colonial mindset. So India had to reclaim it's territory by force.
Why did the world let India take Goa??? As if the world is India's boss and India need permission to take its stolen territory. You people.need to come out of your superiority complex
Happy to see my home state of Goa getting some coverage on a major history channel! Would also mention that India were pretty patient with trying to get the Portuguese to leave peacefully, but Salazar was so stubborn that using force was inevitable.
Portugese felled temples, destroyed Hindu populace of India, and was against democratic demand for independence.
thus, we kicked goras out of our motherland.
Wrong map of india
"Portugal will give it back roughly 5 minutes after the heat death of universe"
From an Indians point of view, Portuguese who invaded and occupied Indian territory, which had citizens who saw themselves Indians was taken back and not invaded.
I mean you aren't doing anything illegal if you evict people who illegally occupied your home.
In India, we learn that Goa was liberated. Narrative plays a part in forming opinions.
Wow! India annexed Goa! Such a colonial mindset. We just took our land back. Everyone knows that Portuguese, Dutch, Danish, English, and French made colonies in different parts of India. So, it was rightful on our part to take it back. Clear your thoughts.
Goa or Gomantak is quintessentially Indian. No need for any Europeans to decide what it is
So much for NATO’s article 5.
If History Matters why are you showing Wrong map of India. Jammu and Kashmir is part of India, its just some part which is occupied by Pakistan because Pakistan don't want to do what UN said for Jammu & Kashmir issue
I mean historically india was never one county, it's just British idea
I love the humour of History Matters
Question should be: Why did the world let China annex Tibet(which historically was a separate country)?
Goa has been an integral part of India since the beginning of time.
Am I missing something? What's the big debate? It belonged to India… they took it back. That's it.
'Portuguese overseas territory' captured from the Indian nation by Portuguese imperial colonizers. No cap.
