Why Didn’t Britain Make Peace After the Fall of France? (Short Animated Documentary)

As you’ll know Britain kept fighting after the Fall of France but given that the odds seemed to be stacked against them the question is: why did they keep fighting? Why didn’t Britain sue for peace?

  1. The idea that Britain could have made peace with Hitler in 1940 is a bad joke it would have meant handing over our country on a plate to Germany it was never a realistic option.

  2. What everyone overlooks about Britain having its empire is yes they did, but sending resouces and men from the empire to Britain or the continent was a risky task, mostly due to German Uboats.
So great Britain was very much alone.
Also Hitler was furious Britain didn't join the axis, he had admired the British for their empire building, the fact a small island managed to conquer somewhere like India impressed him, plus he viewed the English as fellow Germanic people and many of the high command loved the idea of the "English country gent"

  3. Utter nonsense, it was not just Lord Halifax. Even Hitler sued for peace with Britain where they offered to return of the territories they captured in Western and Northern Europe against a free hand in Eastern Europe which for British interest meant almost no issues. Hitler main objective was dominance in Eastern Europe and defeat of Soviets and annihilation of Communism (Judeo Bolshevism as he used to call it) as in ideology. Hitler was biggest non-British Anglophile leader in WW2. The British would never acknowledge that their involvement in WW2 was totally based on whims of a war monger Mr. Winston Churchill.
The funniest aspect is that they foreseen the scenario where Hitler going to do something stupid but failed to foresee that war with Germany would bankrupt them and it would mean an eventual loss of its empire which took centuries and lots of sacrifices of British blood to build it.

  4. I'm glad my cousin came to power twice in Britain in order to save them. Too bad the ungrateful people brought the stupid liberals back into power after the wars were over.

  5. So basically if Germany just let the Russians stay in their Igloos and Japan wasn't so horny to get it on with the USA, we would able be speaking German right now

  6. Churchill: Germany will attack either the US or the USSR.
    Axis: We'll do neither!
Churchill: Then I guess we're fu-
    Axis: We'll do both!
    Churchill: -cked. Wait wut?

  7. Japan attacking the US and Germany invading the USSR are literally the stupidest thing that ever happened in history. Those guys were tremendously winning this war and single handedly ruined their odds of victory.

  8. And the main reason is “we shall fight on the beaches we shall fight on the land we will never surrender!” Or somthing along those lines

  9. At least its true that the Americans were not fighting until they had no choice, as Hitler declared war on them. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

  10. WWII was the greatest comeback by Brittan nay any county in the world. They were on a slow economic down turn and still fought off the superior Nazi forces on a number of occasions. In my opinion WWII was a Mainly fought and won British war (not to down play free France, the soviet union, America and the other allies of the war) but Brittan but in the heavy hits and could take even greater ones back

  11. *Germany*: Surrender!
*France*: Don't do anything stupid Britain.
    *Britain*: Never!
    France*: *Slaps forehead

  12. Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and if, which I do not for a moment believe, this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old

  13. "Britain was confident that Germany would eventually do smth silly like invade the Soviet Union or do smth that would pull the United States into the war."

    Lmfao it did BOTH :))))))

  14. I mean Japan had to attack america because of oil, and Germany needed to Invade because oil. Oil

  15. Do we know who the four men at 0.08 are? I want the grey haired guy in glasses to be New Zealand Prime Minister Michael Joseph Savage, but I'm not sure.

  16. Because we shall fight on the beaches we shall fight on the landing grounds we shall fight in the hills the sea WE SHALL NEVER SURRENDER

  17. Germany had really strong dps but Britain was confident they could tank the damage until Germany ran out of mana.

  18. Bear in mind too that Churchill was screaming at the Soviets that Germany was going to betray them and Stalin was not only dismissive of it but actively in talks with Germany to formally join the Axis alliance as late as December of 1940.
