  1. I read somewhere that when Germany took over the Sudetenland they classified the "races" living there as Aryan, mixed, or eastern. After conquering Czechia they did the same thing to the Czechs, and found that the "Aryan" percentage of the population was higher than that of the Sudetenland.

  2. Please do Silesia – how it moved between countries amoung centuries (Great Moravia – Poland – Kingdom of Bohemia – Austro-Hungary – Prussia – Poland), how it never got independence (Jozef Kozdon, Plebiscite) and how it was baited by Authonomy by Poland, then removed by communist government. The so close would-be country that never happen to be.

  3. In my opinion the western allies of WW1 committed a tremendous mistake by assigning the territory of the former Austrian-Hungarian empire randomly without paying attention to the ethnicities that lived there. That is why I have to come to the conclusion that the handing over of Czech territory to the Germans was legitimate due to the fact that over 3 million people of German descent were resident there. There were also a lot of obstacles to overcome concerning the integration of ethnic Germans into Czechoslovakia featuring the linguistic difficulties etc. Furthermore the territory was adjacent to the German mainland after the carving up of the former empire.
BUT: There must have been a serious compensation for the Czechs in return for the territory.

  4. The Germans actually occupied the Czech state and made it into a protectorate bc the Czechs asked them to. The Czech leader realized Germany was the only country that could protect them.

  5. I have no sympathies for the Germans of this period, but frankly Czechoslovakia does not make any sense. You have a set of treaties after World War I that lay out a groundwork for self determination, yet Czecholovakia was a patchwork of Germans, Czechs, Slovaks, Hungarians, Pole, and Ukrainians. It was just as diverse as the Hapsburg Empire

  6. The real reason, why you always must fight for what is yours. German officers weren't happy about starting a new war, after a devastating WW1, so in case of Czechia fightback, they've launched a coup against Hitler.

  7. In my opinion, one of the best people who commented this betrayal was Winston Churchill. That said, “You were given a choice between war and dishonour. You chose dishonour and you will have war.".

  8. The right to self-determination of the millions of Germans and Hungarians living in what was to become the artificial state of "Czechoslovakia" was utterly disregarded after WWI and the break-up of Austria-Hungary. These people never wanted to be part of this new nation state. 1938 was the logical consequence, albeit it is sad that it happened with the national socialists, i.e. political criminals and disturbed ideologues, in power.

  9. Bro, the Czechs just needed to push more AT and AA while properly rotating divisions. If I could solo the Germans in Hoi4 no problem I see no reason why they couldn't pull a Munich Disagreement IRL.

(Obviously this is sarcasm, and the fact that I have to say this is sad)

  10. Finally somebody pointed out one of the most embarrasing moments of France and UK in modern history, considering the fact that our country had one of the strongest economics producing hundreds of thousands of rifles and thousands of tanks in WWII. Indeed very poetic that czech-made tanks were apart of offensive towards both nations which swore to protect us from Germany.

  11. Actually there is forgotten war, we fought when hungarians invated. It is called "malá vojna".

When hungarians invated slovak state, we didn't have army. Czechoslovak troops desintegrated and there weren't slovak troops yet. Germany (we were their pupet) should defend us, but they didn't, so tousants of our people enlisted and it kinda worked. First hungarian plan was to take Poprad and they faild. But our neighbours were on their side (Germany, Poland) and we lost southern teritories.

This war is forgotten because of after war regime. After war hungarians were our allies, and there wasn't a real czech role in this war. The slovak state and especially army did bad things during war…

  12. Short answer, We weren't asked for our Opinion. My parents are Czech (we live outside of CZ though), and sometimes there is still a lot of resentment towards France and Britain from older family members and family friends, as well as few younger ones.

  13. because we are stupid and always ve had incompetent generals…. like now look comparing with Ukraine !

in 1938 there was only 1 personn from all high coman = general Vojcechovsky = he was actually russian man
who met our legioners after 1917 during russian campaign, then returned with them and building 1st republic, at may 1945 he was taken by NKVD to the Siberia
    ý
all other 3+1 czech top generals + 1 president they made a poop to their trousersi from Adolf Hitler

  14. As a Czech I must say FU*K France and UK, they betrayed us.
Litteraly gave germany country, with one of the strongest military manufacturing and technologies… how that made sense.

Imagine if now UK and FR just decided that Ukraine should give up their territory to Russia and if not, THEY will be declared the agresors….

  15. Funny thing is that ground forces were about equall, ofcourse huge part of it would be conscripts but determined ones .. only thing that stoped us from putting up a fight was the airforce .. you can resist all you want but if you dont have air supperiority you just loose no matter what.

  16. A typical example of the heartless policy of the great powers. then, before, and now. so many "mines" have been laid in the relations between nations that the last decades of peace seem more than strange.(even if we forget the bloody end of Yugoslavia – another creation of these same "powers").
