Hebrews 4:9 – What Remains? Sabbath Keeping or Resting In Yahusha HaMashiach?

Sabbath Keeping or Resting In Yahusha HaMashiach? Hebrews 4:9 tells us that there remains a rest for the people of the Most High. Depending on who you ask, you will get a different opinion as to what this means.

Most Christians will tell you that it means Yahusha is their rest. To them, Hebrews 4:8-9 means resting in “Yahusha HaMashiach.”

This means anything from flat out not keep a Sabbath to saying it means keeping a Sabbath and resting, but not fellowshipping as we are only to rest on the Sabbath. Sabbath is a shadow of their rest in “HaMashiach,” so all we have to do is physically rest.

So wherever there is a discrepancy, we have to use precept upon precept to decipher who is right and who is wrong. So in this video, we look at whether Hebrews 4:9 means Sabbath Keeping or Resting In “Yahusha HaMashiach.”

  1. The rest of Yahshua and Yahuah is the same rest. In the old covenant, things were physical but, in the new, they are spiritual. For example to enter into Yahshua's rest, you still have to live as he did. Yahshua kept Yah's laws, statutes and commandments so if you are walking in the likelihood of him, you are keeping the laws of yah too. We did not keep the law of Yah so he banished from entering into his rest. Through Yahshua (the loophole) we are able to rejoin the union. Yahshua did not automatically give us rest by his death and resurrection. Just as Yah, his had a stipulation also. That is faith in him. Hebrew 4:8 is referring to every day walking in his rest. He is not limited to 1 day of the week. The Messiah magnified the law of Yah. That means you are under more scrutiny through him. You can not enter by just being obedient. Your heart must genuinely be after Yah in order to enter into Yahshua's rest.

  2. Yahshua's rest is not limited to a day. Saturday is not Yah's day. Saturday didnt even exist then. And what about time zones, the 7th day isnt the same around the world. The Sabbath is his day and that means to walk every day as the Messiah Yahshua did to the best of your ability. And when you fall short, try again because through your faith in the Messiah, he has made you without sin. Through your faith in the Messiah, you are perfect. Now, it's not enough to just say you love Yah and believe in him. If your faith is true, your actions will reflect. So its not a matter of trying to keep the law but rather daily strengthening your faith. That is true resting in him. That's being set apart spiritually and physically from the world daily through your faith and obedience of Yahshua because he is the only way the Father. That is keeping the Sabbath holy.

  3. No, Hebrews 4:11 says “the same EXAMPLE of disobedince”. Do we have to keep the ceremonial law(statutes and ordinances) then because they broke it in the wilderness? The “example of disobedience” is rebbelion(Ezekiel 20:13) and breaking laws God gives us, which is the Law of Christ(Galatians 6:2, 1 Corinthians 9:20-21).
